In this talk, Maria Gargiulo, a statistician with the Human Rights Data Analysis Group (HRDAG), will discuss the joint project between the Colombian Truth Commission (CEV), the Special Jurisdiction of Peace (JEP), and the HRDAG. This collaboration--the largest human rights data project to date--uses statistical methods to examine patterns of homicide, enforced disappearance, kidnapping, forced displacement, and the recruitment of child soldiers during the armed conflict in Colombia.

The Lucy Family Institute is currently recruiting a dedicated full-time postdoctoral researcher to work on a "Leveraging Machine Learning for Materials Discovery" project, focusing on molecular simulations of soft materials (e.g., polymers, liquids) and novel machine learning techniques for property prediction and material design/optimization. The primary objective is to generate data for soft materials from simulations and develop machine learning models based on the data. The postdoc will be directly hired by the Lucy Family Institute’s initiative on AI & Materials.

The Lucy Family Institute seeks an assistant-level research professor (non tenure-track) specifically with strong expertise and experience in AI for Social Good, Responsible AI, Inclusive AI, and AI Ethics. The research faculty will be working closely with Nitesh Chawla, Director of the Institute, the Institute faculty, staff and students, and the broader Notre Dame community.

The post-doctoral fellow with work with Dr. Sarah Mustillo and Dr. Nitesh Chawla, as well as other faculty and staff at the Health Equity Data Lab and industry partners from multiple major organizations from health care field. This fellowship presents unique opportunities for post-doctoral researchers to gain research experience, professional development, and work on a national project with a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
