Welcoming New Leaders
Associate Professor of German
Christophe Koné will serve a three-year term as the next director of the
Oakley Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, succeeding Professor of Religion and Latino/a/x Studies
Jacqueline Hidalgo; and Professor of Africana Studies and Affiliate of Political Science and Religion
Neil Roberts will take on the role of associate dean of the faculty, a two-year term. They begin their roles on July 1, as do
new members of the Board of Trustees: term trustees

Jan F. van Eck ’85, and Alumni Trustee
Danielle Deane-Ryan ’97, elected by the Society of Alumni. Outgoing trustees are

In Memoriam
Williams President
Maud S. Mandel announced
the passing of Stephen Birrell ’64, a longtime member of the Williams community who worked in development and alumni relations in a 25-year career. U.S. President Joe Biden wrote a
tribute to William (Bill) Spriggs ’77, who served as the assistant secretary for policy in the Department of Labor, among other influential positions throughout a long career in economics. The college offers condolences to their families and friends.
