On May 16, NYU Shanghai’s Class of 2026 walked across the stage at NYU Shanghai’s campus in the University’s tenth commencement ceremony. 524 undergraduate students and 164 graduate students from 46 countries and regions, including 381 Chinese students representing 30 provinces, received degrees from NYU and diplomas from NYU Shanghai, with some 2,000 families and friends from around the world cheering them on.

Words of WisdomCommencement speaker Joan Chen encouraged the Class of 2026 to live fully. Chancellor Tong Shijun, Vice Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman, and Provost Bei Wu shared their good wishes and passed on words of advice for the graduating class. NYU President Linda G. Mills and Board of Trustees chair Evan Chesler brought greetings from New York.

On Thursday, May 14, members of the Class of 2026 met at Shanghai’s iconic Pearl Tower at dusk to witness the tower lit up in purple in honor of NYU Shanghai. Over the weekend, the Class of 2026 celebrated at Grad Alley, a lively street fair organized in collaboration with the local community, featuring live performances, local vendors, and the lighting of the New Bund Center.
