Katherine “Kat” Matos ’23, a senior majoring in Creative Writing, Theatre, and Classical Studies recently competed at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for the Irene Ryan Acting scholarship. Although Matos did not move on to the next round, they attended the many workshops offered: “The stage combat workshop specifically was fun and informative.”
|
Matos received a scholarship from Seton Hall for their nomination to the event. The nomination itself came from a judge for the American College Theatre Festival coming to see “A Murder is Announced” which was shown at SOPAC last semester, who picked two students to compete (the other being Kyus Wright).

Do Your Research!
Interested in pursuing a career within a particular industry? Spend some time learning about the trends, current topics of conversation, and notable individuals or organizations in that industry. This will help you tailor your resume to that field and prepare to speak knowledgeably about it in interviews or networking conversations. Your professors and career advisors can help you find this information. Reading industry-specific journals and/or professional association websites and joining relevant LinkedIn groups can also be useful.
|
For more information contact Juliana Gijima, Assistant Director in the Career Center, who is the career advisor for students in all majors within the College of Communication and the Arts. Please feel free to reach out to her at juliana.gijima@shu.edu with any questions or to schedule an appointment, or stop by during her Drop-in Advising hours in Fahy Hall, room B9: Mondays, 2 pm – 4 pm.
