email : Webview : SF Museums for All Program Celebrates 5 Years of Expanding Museum Access

This summer marks the five year anniversary of the San Francisco Museums for All program! Since the program launched in summer 2019, hundreds of thousands of San Franciscans have accessed free or reduced cost entry to San Francisco museums and cultural attractions. Over the last year, five new museums have joined the list of participating museums, bringing the total number of participating museums to 28. The newest members include: the Walt Disney Family Museum, the Aquarium of the Bay, the American Bookbinders Museum, the Tenderloin Museum, and the Guardians of the City First Responders Museum.

“Museums for All opens up a wealth of cultural institutions to San Francisco residents who would otherwise be priced out of attendance,” said Treasurer José Cisneros. “San Francisco has an incredible array of institutions, and we are so excited to see so many low-income families benefit from this program.”

The Financial Justice Project in the Office of the Treasurer & Tax Collector collaboratively launched the program with the Mayor’s Office, SF Human Services Agency, SF Arts Commission, SF Recreation and Parks, and museums and cultural institutions throughout the city.

SF Museums for All enables San Francisco residents with CalFresh or Medi-Cal cards to receive up to four free or $3 tickets to participating museums per visit. Cardholders can easily visit museums by presenting their benefits card and proof of San Francisco residency upon their visit. Nearly one in four San Franciscans qualify for the SF Museums for All program, potentially saving over $150 for a family of four.
