Always At Home
Making your home on wheels feel just as comfortable as a stationary house can be fun, easy, and affordable – no need to break the bank. Of course, you could take the route of planning a full RV renovation, which can be fun and exciting, but what if you don’t have the time, energy, skills, or budget? Don’t fret!
Â
There are many ways to give your RV a comfortable, modern face-lift, all while keeping an eye on your wallet. Abigail Epperson, FMCA family member and RV Miles podcast host, wrote a great article for Family RVing magazine on how to Make An RV Your Own. Abby offers eight budget-friendly tips for adding a touch of home – without breaking a sweat. She shares how to incorporate pictures in a unique way, add a little flair with wallpaper, make your living space comfy-cozy with rugs, bring the RV to life with greenery, and more. The great thing is, these tips are so easy, they can be done while you’re on the road.
Â
Just as in a sticks-and-bricks home, a splash of color or a favorite picture can make all the difference.

Renovating On FMCAdventure
Need some RV renovation inspiration? Look no further than FMCA’s blog, FMCAdventure! Renovating and customizing an RV can seem daunting, but a little personalization will make your home on wheels more homey. One of the great things about owning an RV is the ability to tailor it to fit your personal style and needs.
Â
Blogger Amber in Wanderland shares the five ways she customized her Heartland Torque 371M fifth-wheel with her full-time RVing family on FMCAdventure. Transforming the main bedroom into a nursery and guest room and converting the toy-hauler room into a main bedroom has helped her family stay more comfortable on the road.
Â
Full-timer JP Latkovic of Wander to Get Lost also shares the journey of remodeling in his blog, beginning with the new flooring he added to his family’s 2008 Winnebago Sightseer motorhome. Although he was apprehensive about tackling such a large task, he and his family were pleased with the result. You can also learn more about the entire RV renovation on their YouTube channel.
Â
If you are worried about the price of renovating, check out RV Trader’s 5 tips for renovating on a budget. Planning and pricing ahead of time and being realistic about your goals can prevent you from breaking the bank.

Meet Me At The Campfire
The cool nights of fall make it even more appealing to cozy up around a campfire. Some RV owners like to bring along a portable fire pit – be it wood-fired, propane-fueled, or other. The options can be overwhelming, however. Based on personal experience, the reviews of other campers, and research, Dan and Lisa of Always On Liberty have developed a list of the Top 10 Portable Fire Pits For RVs and Camping.
|
| |
|
Â
For each of the 10 on their list, they share “cool features,” “what’s hot,” and “what’s not,” and they provide information about available models and sizes, if applicable, as well as optional accessories.
Â
They also remind RVers that respecting fire is a must, and another of their blogs offers Campfire Safety Tips To Help Prevent Forest Fires.
Â
Finally, RV owners who want the ambiance of a campfire – and the ability to make s’mores! – but who are tight on space or appreciate no fuss/no muss should check out City Bonfires. These ultra-portable, compact “fire pits” are made of FDA food-grade soy wax, so, yes, they can be used to roast a marshmallow. Each 4-inch-by-2-inch tin offers three to five hours of burn time.
Â
We’ll see you around the campfire!
