Music With Emma
Despite it being -40 outside with the windchill, Rebekah still had a fantastic turnout for her 'Music with Emma' Event!
As part of Rebekah's PATH she has been hosting 'Music with Emma' Events that have been a great way to get us out of our houses during this LONG and COLD winter and Emma Cameron always shines bright with her amazing singing and instruments! Thanks for another wonderful afternoon together!

Truth and ReconciliationAstonished! Inc. is situated on Treaty 4 lands with a presence in Treaty 6. These are the territories of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis/Michif Nation. Today, these lands continue to be the shared Territory of many diverse peoples from near and far.
Building on the success of a prior 6-part series in A!TLC, and responding to the information provided in evaluations, the Student Researchers participated in a monthly Truth and Reconciliation workshop that just wrapped up in January 2025.
Truth and Reconciliation processes have historically excluded the voices and experiences of individuals with disabilities. This project aimed to bridge this gap by providing an inclusive platform for education, dialogue, healing, and understanding. We were able to create an inclusive space for Core Members to engage in meaningful conversations, explore the impact of past wrongs, and work towards reconciliation.
A few notable sessions that Core Members were able to participate in included activities at the Garden of Wellness, beading with Jodi Robson in Summer Literacy, informative monthly sessions on campus, watching The Trial of Louis Riel, attending events out in the community, and supporting local Indigenous restaurants for catering.
As we learned in our last TRC workshop we know practicing truth and reconciliation in Canada is an ongoing, collective effort that involves acknowledging the historical wrongs, addressing the current impacts of those wrongs, and working towards healing and justice for Indigenous peoples. By taking these steps, we as the Astonished! community can contribute to meaningful reconciliation in Canada, helping to build a future based on mutual respect, justice, and healing.

Thank You CIF
Astonished! received funding from the Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) for a 12-part series that builds on the success of a previously delivered 6-part series on truth and reconciliation. The series looked to continue to explore the shared history of Indigenous peoples and settlers while building a deeper understanding of our individual and collective roles in finding ways forward. The project included 12 monthly sessions, land-based learning activities as well as participation in community events and activities related to truth and reconciliation. Participants continued to move to a fuller understanding of what reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people means and to a deeper commitment to that reconciliation.

Jayda Lees
Hello! My name is Jayda, and I am currently in my last year at the University of Regina, pursuing a Bachelor of Kinesiology with a major in Health Studies. This semester I have been fortunate enough to do my fieldwork placement with Astonished! I have been loving the opportunity to learn about inclusivity and the strengths-based perspective and I have started to develop genuine relationships with the core members. My passion for pursuing a career in Occupational Therapy once I am done with my undergrad is what led me to look into Astonished! and I am so grateful I did. The experience I have gained while being at Astonished! has created new opportunities for me to learn and given me new skills that I can carry onto my future career.
When I am not busy with school, you can find me coaching/playing volleyball or outside enjoying the fresh air. I spend the winter holidays going out to Fernie with my family to ski and spend the summer trying to get out to the mountains as much as possible to hike and camp.

Nadine Domingo
Hello! My name is Nadine, and I am currently in my final semester at the University of Regina, majoring in Health Studies in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies.
I am originally from the Philippines, and moved to Regina when I was 10 years old. I am fortunate to do my placement at Astonished! It has been an amazing experience connecting with a diverse group and learning about the importance of inclusion.
If I am not buried in schoolwork, I enjoy having game nights with my friends, or shopping. As for my hobbies, I enjoy casually painting, which I find relaxing. Summer is my favourite season. Not just because of the weather, but it gives me a chance to spend time and make memories with friends and family. One of my favourite activities during the summer is taking a relaxing stroll around Wascana while the sun sets.

Khushi Patel
My name is Khushi, and I am a placement student at Astonished! I am in my final semester of my undergraduate program in Kinesiology, focusing on Human Kinetics. I have gained valuable experience in various roles within long-term healthcare environments, which has intensified my desire to help others. At Astonished!, I am exploring different aspects of the challenges that young adults with complex physical disabilities encounter in their everyday lives.
Currently, I am focused on educating our core members about Canada’s food guidelines and supporting them in developing healthy eating habits. I really enjoy participating in social activities with the core members at Astonished!, as it helps us foster stronger interpersonal connections. I am eager to continue learning and engaging with core members to support them along with enhancing my personal and professional skills.

Aiden Doig
My name is Aiden Doig. I am a fourth year Human Kinetics student in
the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies. I am a die-hard hockey fan; I could talk about hockey for hours. I stay active by swimming, biking, and running, and I like to spend my free time learning about digital technology.
I was introduced to Astonished! through the multiple classes I have taken focusing on disabilities, and I was immediately sold on the organization. I am excited to be completing my fieldwork with Astonished!. I have already learned a ton from my time here, and I am learning more every day. I know this experience will help guide me throughout my prospective career in medicine, as well as, my own personal life.
