The Chih Foundation awards graduate students whose research publication(s) reflect invention for the betterment of society. This year, four Ph.D. students received the award for their passion for research and publication and their value of putting the needs of others above personal interest. Each awardee will receive $2,500 to pursue their research.

Ph.D. Student Addresses Climate Change with Pending Patented Invention
|
Castro-Méndez’s research and published work in mitigating climate change earned a Chih Foundation Graduate Student Research Publication award. In his publication titled, “Vapor Phase Infiltration Improves Thermal Stability of Organic Layers in Perovskite Solar Cells,” Castro-Méndez demonstrates an innovative approach that contributes to the overall stability and longevity of perovskite solar cells. The 2024-25 Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fellowship opportunity is open to all disciplines, and those who have demonstrated a need for financial assistance, are citizens of the United States of America, are enrolled in accredited colleges and universities in the United States, and have received baccalaureate degrees. Student(s) may not apply directly but must be nominated by Georgia Tech via internal submission. And then, after internal review, Georgia Tech, as a designated institution, may submit up to three candidates for consideration. Internal deadline is 11:59pm Sunday December 3, 2023.

The Women’s Resource Center is looking for GA Tech students to help plan the Women's Leadership Conference, happening March 31, 2024. Planning will begin in January 2024. Committee members will also have the opportunity to join FLAME - Feminist Leaders Advocating & Mobilizing for Equity. FLAME is a student organization that is a place for women on campus to grow their leadership skills together. FLAME is responsible for planning the Women's Leadership Conference, as well as several other events throughout the year.
