It finally happened. I’ve been bitten by – and now I am smitten with – the pickleball bug. Yes, all those humorous YouTube videos you see of players initially being coy about the prospect of playing and then madly rushing to the courts to play all of the time once they learn the game, well, that’s me…almost.
I put off an introduction to the game for a while. I felt I had enough racquet sports in my life and on my calendar. How could I find time for more? Soon I came to the conclusion if I didn’t pick up a pickleball paddle soon, I was going to be left behind. And that, dear neighbors, was the deciding factor.

Three Cheers for Fosters
PAWS foster homes are at the heart of PAWS’ ability to save lives. With a commitment of just a few weeks, you can rescue a homeless pet and help it become a well-loved companion. The nurturing care of fosters allows dogs and cats to regain health, learn to trust, and acquire social development in preparation for adoption. Become a foster
Gucci Girl is designed for snuggling. Her fosters describe her as "a dream dog," She's house trained, knows the "sit" command and enjoys her crate but prefers being close to you. She likes short walks and happily greets other dogs.
As she was surrendered after her family moved out of state. Gucci Girl loves being with people and has done well living with other dogs after a slow introduction. She needs a home without cats and few steps would help her arthritis. While Gucci is quiet, she won't hesitate to let you know it's time to go outside, then it's back inside for more cuddling with this loving girl.
Cuddly Cobalt had nowhere to go when sadly, his owner passed away. Cobalt is very people-oriented and loves to snuggle-up with his foster family while showering them with gentle kisses. Cobalt enjoys sharing quiet moments on a cozy cushion or rug. He’s a spry guy so in between his naps, he’d love a place to show off his happy zoomies. While people of all ages have a place in Cobalt’s heart, he’d prefer to be the only 4-legged object of your affection.
Ready to give Gucci Girl or Cobalt a loving home? Apply or for questions: adoptions@phillypaws.org.
