Dragon Dialogues: Programming for Parents

Date: Tuesday, October 21, 8:15-9:15 a.m.
Location: Middle School Allen Library (Singleton Hall, please note this new location)

Topic: Nothing Good Ever Came Out of a Group Text Thread

Instant Messaging and texting are both effective and efficient communication forms, but they are not without their drawbacks, and this is especially true for children, tweens, and teens. In this Dragon Dialogue, we’ll examine why children are developmentally unprepared for the challenges presented by digital communication. We’ll share examples of text threads that children have both sent and received, and talk about ways caring adults can act as safeguards for their children.
This Dragon Dialogue will be facilitated by Dr. Kim Hilton, Consulting Psychiatrist, and Merrill Geier, Lower School Director.

Simple Sundays Outdoor Church Service

DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND, WE'RE CONTINUING OUTSIDE! Now through late November (or until it's too cold), St. Michael's Episcopal Church will CONTINUE Simple Sundays in the Outdoor Chapel at St. Michael's Episcopal School at 8:30 am.

Many of you shared with us how much you'd like to stay outside for these short, very casual church services to watch the leaves change. Many of the children also enjoy playing in the woods after the service.

Come prepared for the weather - bundling up as needed. Feel free to bring stadium seat cushions, blankets, hot drinks, and your furry friends on leashes. Come as you are and please join us!
