Please Register Your Child for the
Middle School Challenge Discovery Field Trip
(for Sixth and Seventh Graders)
Dear Families,
The sixth and seventh grades will be spending Tuesday, September 18 at Challenge Discovery on the University of Richmond’s campus. Much more than a ropes course, Challenge Discovery combines fun problem-solving exercises with achievable physical challenges. The day’s activities are planned to foster confidence, empathy, cross-grade relationships and cooperation.
Here are details on this trip:
- Important Departure/Pick-Up Location Information: Our buses will leave at 7:45 a.m. from the old Martin's parking lot at Stony Point Shopping Center (3036 Stony Road and Huguenot Road). Please drop your child at this Martin's parking lot at 7:30 a.m. We will return in time for our regular dismissal. Return pick-up is also at this Martin's parking lot.
- Each student should bring a bag lunch, snack, and a water bottle. Please mark the water bottles in indelible ink so that your child can easily find it in the coolers.
- Students must wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes (e.g. Tom’s are not considered safe for the course).
- Since we will be outdoors all day and the trip will occur rain or shine, dressing in layers and a hat are recommended. Water, bug spray and sunscreen will be available.
- Students requiring Epi-pens should be sure to keep them close during the day.
- Challenge Discovery will cancel the event only for dangerous winds, lightning, or torrential rain.
Please Register Your Child
- Registration is online at http://www.challengediscovery.com/participant-forms/ and must be completed by the end of day on Friday, September 14. Thank you for your help in registering your sixth or seventh grader ASAP.
- Please note there are TWO required forms: one form requires medical information and the second is a participant agreement. After completing the participant agreement, a confirmation email will be sent to you. Please keep the confirmation email for your records.
