Whaleback, opposite Cove Creek Campground, Pisgah National Forest

Dear Traveler:

Have you chilled out today? Because just about every single man, woman, child and white squirrel within a hair’s breadth of one of our 250 waterfalls has enjoyed a little cooling off, whether they stood in the mist of a tumbling whitewater or left their street clothes by a stone and waded right on in. The dog days of summer may be upon us, but our evenings are still mild and the forests offer plenty of free shady spots.

The days are growing (slightly) shorter and any of the remaining summer campers now have visions of school supplies dancing in their heads. Not to worry, you still have plenty of time to eke out plenty of adventures and a trip down Sliding Rock before anybody says the first thing about autumn. So we better get to work. After all, all this fun is not going to just happen by itself.

See you in September,
