On Monday, August 22, at 2:01 p.m., the Department of Campus Safety received a report of an attempted robbery that occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Friday, August 19, outside of 726 Broadway, in Manhattan.
The victim, an NYU student, reported that while they were standing outside of 726 Broadway, an unknown passerby knocked their phone out of their hand. A scuffle ensued in which the suspect attempted to take the victim's phone and backpack. The victim was able to grab their belongings and the suspect fled north on Broadway.
No weapons were used and the victim reported bruised knees; the victim was offered Wellness and other support services by the University. The victim chose not to report the incident to NYPD.
Description of Reported Offender: The suspect was described as male presenting, with a dark complexion, between 5'8" and 6 feet tall, in his early 30's with woven hair.
