Going for It…
The past two years as the GSEA co-chair for the Regional NYC Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) Competition has not only been quite rewarding but it has also surpassed my expectations. When I first took on the role in 2018, I must admit I had a bit of trepidation about it after attending GLC in Toronto. I had a small window to get up to speed. But here we are, preparing for a second competition, and with so much to celebrate and look forward to.
Many of you know that our 2018-19 Regional GSEA Winner for the EONY Chapter, Daniela Blanco of New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering, won the National GSEA Competition in January, and went on to beat 51 countries to win the GSEA Global competition in Macao, China in April. It has been such a monumental experience for all of us to watch Daniela succeed and bring awareness to the GSEA program. So do we hope to repeat history? Absolutely!
With Dave Stein as co-chair and EO member Taylor Trusty, along with two team members from my company who make up our committee, we have attracted nearly a dozen colleges to help promote our GSEA program again this year with 12 candidate submissions! Our competition is November 4th—the semi-finals competition will be held at The Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship at Baruch College, with the finals to follow at NYU’s Leslie eLab Launchpad. David Greenberg of Greenberg Capital will be our speaker in the evening. Learn more about it via the EO Network here.
We invite EONY members to take part in what promises to be an incredible evening. Such a competition, which is truly a global initiative, empowers student entrepreneurs to become the world’s most influential change-makers. And the chance to connect to an instrumental peer group and make the greatest impact possible in their community is not only critical for them, but a great opportunity for EO members to engage and share their experiences. Please join us.
