Dear Community Members,
The San Francisco Office of Cannabis (OOC) writes to provide an update about this year’s Hippie Hill celebration.
Regulated cannabis sales and consumption will be available at this year's event. Given that this will be a first in the history of Hippie Hill, it's especially important that everyone who plans to attend is aware of the expectations required by the permit in order to make this celebration a success.
One key change to this year's event, required by state law, is that any permitted cannabis event for sales and consumption can only be open to individuals who are 21 years of age or older. Anyone under the age of 21 will not be allowed entry. Please bring your state issued IDs, they will be checked at the entrance.
Importantly, and in the interest of public health and safety, event-goers are strongly encouraged to purchase cannabis and cannabis products from a permitted cannabis vendor.
If you plan to join, or know anyone who intends to, please read through the following and pass along this information to ensure a safe and successful 420 celebration:
(1) The event is limited to individuals aged 21 years or older;
(2) Event participants are strongly encouraged to purchase cannabis from permitted vendors because these products are regulated, lab-tested, and sold by San Francisco's local and social equity cannabis businesses.
(3) Consumption will only be permitted in designated areas;
(4) Consumption will not be permitted within 20 feet of areas where food and cannabis are sold;
(5) The daily limit for cannabis sales at the cannabis event is lower than the daily limit for cannabis sales at permitted cannabis dispensaries. For example, attendees may purchase up to 7 grams of flower as opposed to 1 ounce, and up to 2 grams of concentrated cannabis as opposed to 8 grams;
(6) Dabbing is prohibited. Dabbing includes, but is not limited to the action or practice of inhaling small quantities of concentrated cannabis oil, resin, shatter or wax;
(7) Do not litter! Litter has been a reoccuring complaint. Please pick-up trash and allow the park to maintain its beauty for all to enjoy.
The success of this event will have a direct impact on the future of other events that hope to have on-site cannabis sales and consumption. Let’s enjoy this year’s 420 celebration and be a part of the great momentum that promotes a safe, fun, and enjoyable cannabis event by both following the above regulations and being respectful towards your neighbors.
