International Education Week Begins Next Week!

International Education Week at NYU takes place November 11-15. Please share International Education Week events widely with your students (and consider joining some of them if they interest you too)! Key events designed with you, our colleagues, in mind, include:

You’re Invited: OGS Meet and Greet

We invite you all to share refreshments with us on Tuesday, November 12 at 9:00 am while OGS staff will deliver international student and immigration updates, answer any questions, and give you the opportunity to mix and mingle. Please RSVP to the upcoming Meet and Greet.

Updated Post-Completion OPT Academic Confirmation Form

We've updated the Post-Completion OPT Academic Department Confirmation form to improve clarity around the student's expected degree completion dates. The form now asks departments to confirm both the expected date the student will complete all coursework (excluding thesis) and the expected date they will complete all degree requirements (including thesis, if applicable). If ever there is anything unclear on the form or with the automated emails associated with the form, please let us know by completing the OGS eform feedback form.

Key OGS Priorities for International Students This Month

All international students need to be registered full-time for the spring semester in order to maintain their legal status in the United States. Keep in mind that international students who are unable to register full-time must receive OGS permission to register for a reduced course load in order to keep their immigration status valid. For undergraduate students a minimum of 12 credits is considered full-time enrollment; for graduate students, typically a minimum of 9 credits is considered full-time enrollment.
Please inform OGS as soon as possible if a student is dismissed or withdraws so that we can advise students on their options regarding their immigration status. We’re required to notify the US government within 21 days of an action so your help in this is essential!
This month we begin our Journey to NYU email series (as of November 7) to all international students who have program start dates between January 1 and March 1, 2025. Follow along with the emails these students are receiving at our Journey to NYU web page.
