John 19:30
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
New International Version (NIV)
Have you finished everything you started this year?  In January, I typically make numerous commitments that I want to accomplish.  As we finish up November and head into December, we may examine if we have fulfilled our promises to God.

As Jesus came close to death, he finished what he had started.  First he connected his mother to John the  beloved disciple.  Then he wanted to fulfill the scriptures (19:28), so he exclaimed his thirst.  After drinking the sour wine, he exhaled, “It is finished.”

What does this mean?  The same Jesus who took care of everything on that day still works in us today.  He has begun a good work in you and in his church.  Faithful to the finish, he will complete what he has started.  Ask him to help you complete your commitments to him today.

 Pray with me:
Father, we thank you for the perfect record of our Savior, who finished all that he started.  You know the good work you have begun in us, your people.  Finish now what you started in us, we pray.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
