FMCA News: RV Trips to State Parks
The Mile Marker By FMCA
Dear RV Friend,
Fresh air, blooming flowers, chirping birds, sunshine... Folks, it appears that spring is here to stay!
That also means it’s time to get outdoors. Plan your next adventure, pack up your RV, and head to one or more of the United States’ beautiful state parks.
Beat the summer crowds and head to a state park near you, or stop at one along your route. Hikers: Visit one (or more) of these 10 top trails in Georgia State Parks. Or discover a barrel of fun exploring the trails at Kentucky State Parks. Visit FamilyRVingmag.com for tips on how to pack light where you roam.
And we can't forget about Canada, home to more than 1,000 provincial parks. This guide has links to each province's parks. And TripAdvisor is full of reviews of provincial parks.
Happy Spring,
The FMCA Team
P.S. Wishing an (early) Happy Mother's Day to all the RVing moms out there!

Ohio State Parks Loyalty Program
State Park Loyalty Program Savings

On your next visit to a U.S. state park, ask if a loyalty program is available. Many state parks offer programs for guests to earn points. Think of this like a rewards card to your favorite grocery store — simply swipe a card or keychain at checkout. Here are a few examples:
  • Georgia – Earn 10 points for every dollar you spend at state parks. Redeem 3,000 points for a free campsite stay.
  • Ohio – Earn 20 points for every dollar you spend on overnight lodging, day-use facilities, and retail/rental items.
  • Virginia – Earn 20 points for every dollar you spend on campground, bunkhouse, cabin, or lodge reservations.

Don't Want To Bug You...
DIY Bug Repellent

With all these outdoor activities you’re jumping into this spring and summer, you’ll need some bug repellent to go with them! If you prefer the all-natural route, check out this recipe for Homemade Bug Spray from Dr. Axe. Follow his guidelines to make a Lemon Eucalyptus version that is a substitute for spray with DEET. Make sure to reapply if you’ll be outside longer than six hours. And here is a link to FMCA's DIY Pinterest board, which includes links to more homemade bug repellents. Happy exploring!
