Walsh University Hires First-Ever Veteran Affairs Coordinator, Launches Center for Veteran Affairs

Walsh University is excited to announce that U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and Walsh Alum Joshua Ruiz ’21 has been appointed as Walsh’s first-ever Veteran Affairs Coordinator. Ruiz, who experienced first-hand the transition from active military to college student, truly understands the importance of this role and hopes his contagious “Cavalier pride” will help others feel welcome as he grows the veteran population on campus. In this role Ruiz will oversee the newly established Center for Veteran Affairs, which will serve the needs of veteran and military member students and their families. Read More

Walsh University Earns a Top Ten Military Friendly School Designation

Walsh University has been designated as a Top Ten Military Friendly School earning its highest-ever ranking in the private schools offering a doctorate category with a No. 4 ranking following an announcement by the Military Friendly program March 7. Walsh University earned Top Ten Gold status honors for its support of veteran students and their dependents. Read More

Nominate a Walsh Woman of DistinctionThe Walsh Women of Distinction Awards celebrated annually in March honors the talents, gifts, and contributions that women within our Walsh community have made to the university through their faith, leadership, fields of study or teaching, community/campus service, academic excellence, and other notable accomplishments. The award categories include Emerging Leader Award (student), Excellence in Academic Leadership Award (female faculty), Excellence in Professional Leadership Award (female non-faculty), and Woman of Faith (student or employee). Awardees will be recognized at a luncheon on March 29. Nominations close at noon on Friday, March 10. Click here to nominate.

RSVP for the International Dinner and Cultural Festival

Let’s give our international community a great showing! The annual International Dinner and Cultural Festival is an opportunity for the Walsh community to come together to celebrate our cultural diversity and to experience the music, fashion, food and traditions of the countries our international students represent. Featured performances include the University Choral, World Music Ensemble, traditional Nepalese and Indian dances, poetry, skits and singing by members of the Walsh community. Food will be provided by the World Student Organization and Sodexo. Tickets include dinner and entertainment and cost $15 for adults, $5 for students. RSVP Here

Many thanks for the great collaborative efforts made by Cav Nation to pull together Walsh’s inaugural Cavs Connect Annual Conference, which took place Thursday, March 2, in the Barrette Business and Community Center. The University welcomed more than 90 guests, including faculty, staff, alumni, coaches, students and community members. From a powerful keynote on Leading with Cultural Humility by Dr. James Knight to our guest speakers, including Walsh alum Jenifer Hill ’10, Dr. Britt Cooper, and Nick Browning, there was something for everyone! Professor Diane Belfiglio had her watercolor painting, Succulent Shadows I, accepted into the 19th Annual Bryn Du Art show in Granville, Ohio. It was one of 81 pieces accepted for the exhibition out of more than 680 entries. The show will be on display at the Bryn Du Historic Mansion until March 25.
