One of OIE's partners, Georgia Tech Chinese Student and Scholar Association (GTCSSA), together with American partners Westminster International Friends. Here is a note from them:
Welcome to Atlanta, Georgia and Georgia Tech! We are excited to have you join our vibrant community and look forward to meeting each of you.For the 27th consecutive year, the Georgia Tech Chinese Student and Scholar Association (GTCSSA), together with American partners Westminster International Friends, is dedicated to greeting and assisting new arrivals in Atlanta.
Our goal is to personally meet every student and foster lasting friendships. Arrival Assistance: GTCSSA and Westminster International Friends offer free airport pickup and transportation to your dorm or apartment. If you are unable to move directly into your accommodations upon arrival, we can often arrange for you to stay with an American host for up to five days. To request help, please register at our website: https://www.apath-atl.org/
We strive to fulfill almost all assistance requests each year. To help us serve you efficiently, please:
Sign up early and keep your information current.
Change your arrival date later if you are waiting for your visa.
Register any family members who need a ride.
Preparing for Arrival: Before you arrive, please take the following steps to ensure a smooth transition:
Check with your apartment or dorm for your move-in date. If possible, ask your landlord about moving in early and obtain confirmation for your early move-in date. Plan your arrival accordingly.
Review your apartment or dorm website for leasing office hours to make sure you can obtain your key upon arrival. Keep in mind that many leasing offices are not open at night or on Sundays.
If you arrive before your move-in date, plan to stay in a nearby hotel until you can move in. Temporary housing may be available for a limited number of students, but availability is not guaranteed.
Information for Visiting Scholars and Post-Doctoral Students: If you are a visiting scholar or post-doctoral student, please check with your department for arrival assistance. Some departments arrange airport pickups. If you require additional help, we will attempt to assist with pickup and housing, but priority is given to incoming first-year Georgia Tech students.
Notification of Pickup Arrangements: Ensure your registration information is accurate and update any changes in flights or housing on the website. We will notify you once final arrangements are confirmed, typically 4-5 days before your arrival in Atlanta. The notification will include your driver’s contact information, and your driver will also receive your contact details.
The Welcoming Dinner: You are warmly invited to attend the Welcoming Dinner on August 22nd at 6 PM. After you arrive at Georgia Tech, you will receive an invitation with further details via email. We wish you safe travels and extend a heartfelt WELCOME to Atlanta, Georgia. We look forward to meeting you!
