Walsh University Receives Expansion Grant for “Bridge to Literacy Success 2.0”Walsh University’s School of Arts, Sciences and Education received a $65,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Education through a collaboration with the University of Cincinnati in support of the Ohio Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement initiative. Funding will be used to sustain and expand SoR (Science of Reading) applications from past grant funding at the undergraduate and graduate levels while supporting new partnerships with local school districts. Junior Blouin Scholars Build Poverty Awareness on CampusThe Junior Blouin Scholars recently hosted the other Blouin cohorts, faculty and friends to share their knowledge on poverty and food insecurity with a bit of healthy competition. After a game of Jeopardy-style trivia, the winning team was able to direct a $200 donation to the nonprofit of their choice, which was StarkFresh, a local nonprofit whose mission is to tackle the causes of hunger by creating realistic pathways out of poverty. In addition to the trivia event, the Junior Blouin Scholars shared poverty facts, service ideas, and awareness ribbons with more than 130 Walsh students, faculty and staff as part of Human Dignity Week

2023 Spring Break Mission TripThis spring break, join Campus Ministry in service to our neighbors in Steubenville, Ohio, March 5-10. Experience home visits to vulnerable families and shut-ins, participate in construction projects, and get to know some inner-city youth. After a day of work, we will celebrate Holy Mass together, enjoy a family-style dinner and free time. Later in the evening, we will convene for holy hour and adore Jesus. For one week, Walsh students will be a family in service to others, living in a mission house, serving, praying and eating together. The cost is $250 per person. Register Here

Black History Month Celebration: TriviaThe monthlong celebration of Black History to recognize the heritage, accomplishments, and culture of African Americans in the United States, continues with events sponsored by Black Student Union, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Office of Student Activities, Pre-Law Club and Campus Police. This week, spin the wheel and test your knowledge during Black History Month Trivia on Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the David Center Atrium. Cavathon Miracle Network Dance Marathon
The annual Cavathon dance marathon will be held in the Global Learning Center this year on March 18 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Cavathon is a part of the Children's Miracle Network, which is a philanthropic organization, uniting students at hundreds of colleges, universities, and high schools across the United States and Canada to raise funds for Miracle Network hospitals. All proceeds raised from Cavathon go directly to Akron Children's Hospital. Cavathon works all year to raise funds and awareness to "change kids' health and change the future" for the children at Akron Children's Hospital and in support of all the Children's Miracle Network. Last year, Walsh exceeded its goal, raising nearly $35,000. Show your support! Click here to get involved.

Walsh University congratulates the 607 students who qualified for the Fall 2022 Dean’s List. Students enrolled for at least 12 credits who achieve a grade average of 3.5 or higher in any semester are included on the Dean’s List. Part-time students are considered for the Dean’s List in the semester when their class status changes. Among the students who qualified for the Dean’s List are 41 international students and 59 out-of-state students. We recognize and applaud the challenging work and dedication this academic achievement represents! Read More

Diane Belfiglio, Assistant Professor of Art and Studio Coordinator and Art Club Advisor is excited to share that her solo show, "In the Light of Day: Works by Diane Belfiglio" at the Zanesville Museum of Art opens this week. The opening reception is Thursday, Feb. 9, from 5-6 p.m., followed by a one-hour concert. The show runs through August 12, 2023. Read More
