New Op-ed "Honoring Fred Ross Sr.: With Cesar Chavez, he formed the UFW"
By Peter Dreier and Manuel Pastor
Special to the San Jose Mercury News

With the late Fred Ross Sr.'s recent induction into the California Hall of Fame, Dreier and Pastor honor his contributions to the social justice movement in this latest op-ed. Ross Sr. had an enormous impact on the philosophies and organizing trajectory of a young Cesar Chavez, who later called him his hero. This piece pays tribute not only this trailblazing and resilient man, but to all those who continue the work he helped start.

"Ross Sr. once said, 'A good organizer is a social arsonist -- one who goes around setting people on fire.' He listened to people and helped them channel their anger into the building of powerful and constructive grass-roots organizations."

Media Mentions
The online buzz continues from Manuel Pastor's op-ed “Are Latinos Really Turning White? in last month's Huffington Post blog.  Below are the latest mentions from The New Republic and the Policy Mic.
