That's the bad news. The good news? Christ is enough.
However our Lent may have turned out, however small and insufficient we may judge ourselves, however "less" we may feel in the face of unrelenting demands for "more," Christ is enough--and more than enough.
With trust in Christ, maybe in these coming holy days we can extend a bit of a welcome to that "stranger" within us—to that poor, less-than, not-enough self of ours that we try so hard to hide from the world, and even from our own selves. With trust in Christ, maybe we can embrace these Three Days just as they are, and just as we are.
Christ is enough. There is no better place to turn to Him than right here, where he's put us. And there's no better time to turn to Him than right now, at this moment. The "nots" are untied. We've got everything we need because we've got Christ.
There is, of course, plenty of real poverty all around us and often right beside us, and we're called to help the poor. And still, we don't need thirty pieces of silver. We don't need thirty pieces of anything. Christ Jesus is enough. And in Christ Jesus, we are enough. We are enough together.
What is He willing to give us? Everything.
