Dear Playhouse Village Businesses,
We are excited to share that the Governor of California has provided additional clarification and outdoor gyms meet the essential workforce definition of an outdoor recreational facility for the purpose of facilitating personal health through physically distanced outdoor exercise and may continue operations outdoors. Indoor operations of fitness studios and gyms remain closed.
In addition to ensuring that 100% masking and physical distancing is enforced at your outdoor gym, please review, complete and post the Reopening Guidelines issued by the City of Pasadena.
How to Move Fitness Operations Outdoors
If you would like to move your fitness business operations outdoors, the City of Pasadena has established the regulations below.
On Private Property: Pasadena is supportive of gyms and fitness studios utilizing outdoor PRIVATE property to conduct their business in a safe and responsible manner, and in compliance with industry protocols. Fitness studios relocated to private property do not require a permit, unless, for example, the business plans to erect a tent or truss structure within their outdoor layout. For more information and to apply for a tent permit, click here.
On Public Right-of-Way: Fitness studios may apply for a permit from the City to relocate outdoors and within the following public right-of-way locations:
- City Streets with proper traffic control and within existing partial lane closures for businesses - Apply for the Temporary Outdoor Permit for Non-Dining Businesses here.
- Parklets - Apply for the Temporary Parklet Application (Dining & Non-Dining Uses) here.
- Municipal Parking Lots - Contact us at info@playhousevillage.org if you are interested
