IGNITE AN UNFORGETTABLE TEACHING EXPERIENCE
|
The Capital Area STEM Network Center is hosting The Ignite Project, which is a free 40-hour workshop for K–5 public and public charter school teachers. The training, featuring Code.org, Scratch, Micro:bit, and robots, focuses on equipping teachers with essential computer science skills that can be easily embedded into their current teaching practices.
Following a "train-the-trainer" model, teachers can participate in the program as Ignite Ambassadors or as general participants. Ambassadors are chosen by their district or school to complete the workshop offered through the Capital Area STEM Center and then return to their district to redeliver the training to other K–5 teachers. Successful Ambassadors earn stipends ($1200 to $1500) based on the teachers they train. General participants receive 40 hours of professional development and a $350 stipend for participation.
