Prairie Meadows was a proud host of the eighth annual GIVE Golf Classic at Terrace Hills Golf Course in Altoona on September 6. All proceeds from the tournament were donated to the not-for-profit organization, Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere, a supportive community that provides golf training for Iowa’s injured and disabled Veterans. Since 2013, Prairie Meadows has proudly donated a total of $798,222.85 to the GIVE Foundation.

On Monday, September 16, we celebrated our 2024 grant recipients and the impact they will make through our grants program. We were excited to announce $15 million in grants awarded this year. Since 1989, Prairie Meadows and Polk County have partnered to generate over $2.2 billion in taxes and charitable giving for projects that enhance and strengthen central Iowa communities.

Prairie Meadows and Polk County hosted a Veterans Day celebration in the Finish Line Show Lounge on Monday, November 11. Veterans and the public were invited to a special “Saluting Our Veterans” ceremony honoring our nation’s heroes. Attendees enjoyed free lunch, live music, military displays, and remarks from local and national leaders. We extend our sincere thanks to those who have served, and to those currently serving our country.

Prairie Meadows provides ongoing support to nonprofit organizations. We are proud to be a part of the efforts and mission of these local organizations.

The Iowa Character Awards highlight Iowa’s role models, and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the deserving individuals and organizations who were recognized. This event is dedicated to honoring and celebrating the Hispanic culture. Prairie Meadows supports initiatives that help to advance arts and culture, education, and economic development, and is committed to helping strengthen and expand opportunities and services offered within the community.

Prairie Meadows was proud to support the 2024 American Legion Altoona Post 682 - 4th Annual Red, White, & Blue Fundraising Car Show on September 2, with our contribution making a difference in the lives of Iowans.

The 2024 Safari Soirée, Blank Park Zoo’s Annual Fundraising Gala, was held on Thursday, September 5, at the Blank Park Zoo.

The 2024 Broadlawns Medical Center Foundation – 6th Annual Rose Soirée was held on Thursday, September 12. Prairie Meadows was eager to support and champion the event which provided a fundraising opportunity for guests to learn more about Broadlawns Medical Center - the community "safety net hospital" that is owned by the people of Polk County. Proceeds from this fundraising event directly supports Broadlawns Family Birthing Center. 

The 2024 Annual Dress for Success Stepping Into Success Luncheon was held on September 17. This event celebrated the work of the Career Center which aims to address obstacles women face while securing employment.

On September 24, Prairie Meadows sponsored FuseDSM's Flourish: Fund Ideas That Matter initiative, a dynamic program designed to support women, gender non-conforming, and non-binary entrepreneurs in the early stages of their businesses. Flourish offers a unique platform to celebrate, uplift, and financially empower these business owners through an unforgettable live pitch event.

The Southeast Polk Education Foundation hosted a celebration before the homecoming football game to raise money to provide grants for educational projects within the Southeast Polk School District to ensure the future success of Southeast Polk students. Prairie Meadows is dedicated to investing in events that support education and create opportunities for our youth to build a strong future. 

This event brought together leaders from the 11-county region to connect, learn, and collaborate on solutions for regional challenges and opportunities. Programming encouraged strategies to strengthen rural, urban, and suburban communities, positioning Des Moines as a leader in economic and talent development. The awards also celebrated local companies and individuals for their contributions to Greater Des Moines' vitality. By supporting these initiatives, Prairie Meadows empowers individuals, strengthens the local economy, and fosters lasting change for future generations.

This annual event aims to raise funds to provide students in need with the essential resources they need to be successful students and healthcare professionals. Prairie Meadows is committed to supporting education and providing equitable experiences to help build a stronger future for Iowans.

The 2024 JDRF Hope Gala was held on October 5. This event is dedicated to bringing awareness and funding towards finding a cure for T1D so that history will record diabetes as the first non-infectious chronic disease to be eradicated. Prairie Meadows is deeply committed to partnering with non-profit organizations that provide hope, healing, and happiness to Iowans facing critical needs and help transform lives for brighter tomorrows. On October 9, Prairie Meadows sponsored the 2024 Catch Des Moines Annual Celebration, an event that celebrates success in bringing visitors to the metro through conventions, events, and leisure travel. Businesses and individuals received awards for their work in various tourism sectors throughout Catch Des Moines’ fiscal year, from July 2023 – June 2024. Prairie Meadows is dedicated to promoting economic development, jobs, agriculture, and tourism in the state of Iowa, and is honored to be a part of events that shine a spotlight on community betterment. Prairie Meadows hosted the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association’s (ALS) Walk To Defeat ALS held on October 12, on our track apron. This event provides awareness and fundraising towards treatment and ultimately a cure for ALS and has a direct impact on people living with ALS and their families locally. Through education, support groups, access to care and advocacy, the ALS Association is working to defeat ALS and provide hope to people living with the disease. We are committed to supporting initiatives that make a positive impact in the lives of Iowans.

Prairie Meadows was grateful to sponsor of the 2024 Glanton Event held on November 6, and of the Proud & Purple Campaign. The Glanton Fund supports Des Moines University’s goal to create a campus environment that encourages an appreciation for the cultural differences in society and attracts students of all backgrounds to be part of the university and the greater Des Moines community. The fund generates scholarships for students with significant financial need with preference given to those whose qualities best align with DMU’s mission and values. The fund is also used for programming related to diversity initiatives.

Additionally, funding for the Proud & Purple Campaign is aimed toward a new state-of-the-art campus that promotes innovative learning and emphasizes well-being with wellness facilities, outdoor walking trails, and mental health resources. The 2024 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 65 Roses Gala held on November 8, and Prairie Meadows was pleased to sponsor this meaningful event. This gala provides an opportunity to unify the community and raise funds in support of those with Cystic Fibrosis. Their mission is to provide all people with Cystic Fibrosis the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives by funding research and drug development, partnering with the Cystic Fibrosis community, and advancing high-quality, specialized care.
