2024 GIVE Golf Classic Raises $80,301.46 For Veterans |
Prairie Meadows was a proud host of the eighth annual GIVE Golf Classic at Terrace Hills Golf Course in Altoona on September 6. All proceeds from the tournament were donated to the not-for-profit organization, Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere, a supportive community that provides golf training for Iowa’s injured and disabled Veterans. Since 2013, Prairie Meadows has proudly donated a total of $798,222.85 to the GIVE Foundation.

2024 Prairie Meadows & Polk County Community Impact Luncheon |
On Monday, September 16, we celebrated our 2024 grant recipients and the impact they will make through our grants program. We were excited to announce $15 million in grants awarded this year. Since 1989, Prairie Meadows and Polk County have partnered to generate over $2.2 billion in taxes and charitable giving for projects that enhance and strengthen central Iowa communities.

Prairie Meadows and Polk County hosted a Veterans Day celebration in the Finish Line Show Lounge on Monday, November 11. Veterans and the public were invited to a special “Saluting Our Veterans” ceremony honoring our nation’s heroes. Attendees enjoyed free lunch, live music, military displays, and remarks from local and national leaders. We extend our sincere thanks to those who have served, and to those currently serving our country.

The ALS Association – Walk To Defeat ALS |

Prairie Meadows hosted the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association’s (ALS) Walk To Defeat ALS held on October 12, on our track apron. This event provides awareness and fundraising towards treatment and ultimately a cure for ALS and has a direct impact on people living with ALS and their families locally. Through education, support groups, access to care and advocacy, the ALS Association is working to defeat ALS and provide hope to people living with the disease. We are committed to supporting initiatives that make a positive impact in the lives of Iowans.

Des Moines University Glanton Event + Proud & Purple Campaign |

Prairie Meadows was grateful to sponsor of the 2024 Glanton Event held on November 6, and of the Proud & Purple Campaign. The Glanton Fund supports Des Moines University’s goal to create a campus environment that encourages an appreciation for the cultural differences in society and attracts students of all backgrounds to be part of the university and the greater Des Moines community. The fund generates scholarships for students with significant financial need with preference given to those whose qualities best align with DMU’s mission and values. The fund is also used for programming related to diversity initiatives.
Additionally, funding for the Proud & Purple Campaign is aimed toward a new state-of-the-art campus that promotes innovative learning and emphasizes well-being with wellness facilities, outdoor walking trails, and mental health resources.
