Psalm 91:9-10
If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make xthe Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
New International Version (NIV)
Talk is cheap!  The Psalmist reminds us that it is one thing to say, "The Lord is my refuge," and another to make the Most High our dwelling.  We start with words and translate them into action.  James teaches the same thing in 1:22-24 when he writes, "Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says!"

When someone asks the reason for our hope, we must be prepared to answer that the Lord has been our refuge.  The moment we do, we are on notice that the world is watching.  Will we remain in his shelter and rest in his presence?

In the Gospel of John 1:37-39, we find a beautiful beginning of discipleship when Jesus asks two of John's followers, "What do you want?"  They answer, "Rabbi, where are you staying?"  "Come," he replied, "and you will see."  So they went and saw where he was staying and they spent that day with him.  They started with words and translated them into action by remaining with Jesus all day long.

We have started well today.  Let us finish strong.  "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion . . ." (Philippians 1:6).
Pray with me:
Father, we want to practice what we preach.  You are our refuge.  Help us to make you our dwelling today.  Let us live in your presence all day long.  Through Christ we pray, Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
