DEI Community Input Survey Open Through October 11

The ARL Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee invites full-time employees of galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAM) in Canada and the United States to participate in a survey about the current landscape of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Building on a survey conducted four years ago, this effort will help identify changes in institutional approaches, available resources, and the field’s evolving needs. Don’t Miss Accessibility Conversations at the 2026 Charleston Conference

The US Department of Justice extended the Americans with Disabilities Act Title II compliance deadlines by a year—public entities serving 50,000 or more now have until April 26, 2027; smaller entities until April 26, 2028. A lawsuit is already challenging that extension in federal court, so the later deadlines could be struck down or moved up before they take effect. Kate Donovan Named University Librarian for Boston University
|
Boston University has appointed Kate Donovan (25LFP) as university librarian, effective December 7, 2026. Kate is director and associate university librarian for special collections at The Bancroft Library, UC Berkeley. She previously held leadership positions at Harvard’s Houghton Library as well as the special collections libraries at New York University and Emory University.
