700 Job Seekers Attend Hiring Expo

The first-ever county-wide hiring expo held in Rutherford County on August 29,  offered 150 registered employers an opportunity to advertise over 5,000 open positions ranging from entry-level to upper management.
Employers were thrilled to engage with local job seekers. Many reported that they spoke to at least 50 candidates with some reaching as many as 200 potential job seekers. “There was a surprisingly awesome turnout! We had an overwhelming response and interest in our positions,” stated Bailey McMahan from Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance.

Several employers have reported that they have between 10 and 20 potential candidates scheduled for follow-up tasks, and some employers were able to make hires on the spot. “We met candidates that wouldn’t have even thought about working in our business that showed interest,” added manager Joe Prewitt from Prairie Farms Dairy.

Fall Dale Carnegie Sessions

The Chamber is proud to offer professional development sessions in partnership with Dale Carnegie Tennessee. Dale Carnegie training sessions are meant to instill an understanding of human behavior that improves leadership, performance, teamwork, attitude and the bottom line. Sponsored by First Tennessee, these sessions have limited seating, with registration required. Sign up for individual classes by clicking the titles below.
Attitudes for Service
Thursday, Sept. 26 | 8-10 a.m. | $49
The foundation of creating a customer service culture is understanding expectations, going the extra mile and being a customer advocate. Applying behaviors of helpfulness, genuine interest and respect moves customers from hostile or ambivalent toward supportive and enthusiastic. In this session, you will learn how to maintain a friendly, low pressure and high service environment for your customers.

Delegation
Tuesday, Oct. 29 | 8-10 a.m. | $49
Delegation (rather than dumping) can be used to develop people or to achieve specific organizational outcomes. Identifying who is ready for delegation and using a collaborative process clarifies the level of control needed to affix accountability. After completing this session, participants will be able to demonstrate the steps of the Delegation Process to train and develop valuable team members while maintaining accountability and control.

Managing Stress
Friday, Nov. 22 | 8-10 a.m. | $49
Managing stress is like managing time: it’s all about managing ourselves. In this module, you will assess your current reactions to stress, then explore ways to clarify where we have a measure of control. Identifying different kinds of stress, and different responses from different people, will help to identify how to show more of our innate resiliency to internal and external factors we all face. We will identify ways to convert common negative reactions into positive outlooks, with clear action steps.
