Travel Oregon and international tourism experts, Destination Think!, invite you to participate in one of seven regional, virtual workshops in October. Your input during these workshops will have direct impact on Oregon’s tourism vision for the future, and how we work together with your region to achieve this vision in areas of resource allocation, product development, promotion and more.

Anti-Racism in the OutdoorsThe Joy Trip Project recently released the Anti-Racism in the Outdoor Resource Guide providing resources related to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion of Black, indigenous and people of color in parks and greenspaces. The Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison UCONN College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources are hosting a webinar to share this new guide, Everyone’s Earth: Conversations on Race and Environment on September 30, 9:30 a.m. PST. Join the conversation and hear from those leading the nations effort to address racism in the outdoors. Explore how we can increase diversity and equity as it relates to outdoor accessibility and engagement.

White House Eases Restrictions for International TravelThis week, the White House announced it will ease entry restrictions on international travel for vaccinated individuals. International travelers coming to the U.S. will be required to show proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test taken within three days of departure prior to boarding a U.S.-bound flight. With many travel bans in place since March 2020, this is a major turning point that will accelerate the recovery of the millions of travel-related jobs lost since the start of the pandemic.

Upcoming Oregon Tourism Commission Meeting, Oct. 5The next Oregon Tourism Commission Meeting is Oct. 5 from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. In response to Governor Kate Brown’s directive on physical distancing measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the risk of exposure to our communities, the meeting will be live-streamed on Travel Oregon’s Industry YouTube channel. Registration is optional. The meeting agenda, registration and Travel Oregon’s Strategic Planning Process Report are available here. If you would like to submit a public comment for the meeting, please do so here. Comments must be received by Friday, Oct. 1 at noon.
