Crew Smith ’12 PhD moderates Boston “For Humanity Illuminated” neuroscience research event

On November 9th, more than three hundred members of the Yale community gathered at the Seaport Hotel on Boston’s waterfront for an exploration of the pioneering work being done at Yale and beyond to accelerate research and pave the way for transformative treatments. Following five Yale experts who discussed their pioneering work in neuroscience research, Elenoe “Crew” Smith ’12 PhD Cell Biology, moderated a discussion on the process of bringing an idea from foundational discovery to effective therapy and the immense importance of curiosity and collaboration along the way. GSAA “Where Do I Go From Yale” honored with Alumni Association Excellence Award

During the fall Yale Alumni Assembly and Annual Fund Convocation, the GSAA Board's April 2023 “Where Do I Go from Yale?” (WDIGFY) program was honored with a Yale Alumni Association's Board of Governors Excellence Award. The selection committee noted that WDIGFY co-chairs Yana Bebieva ’18 PhD, Geology and Geophysics and Tammy Ingram ’07 PhD, History successfully pivoted from the previous year's virtual offering to an in-person format in New Haven. Endowed fellowship opens doors and honors inspiring mentorship

Recognizing the vital contributions of doctoral scholars, Bert Eshaghpour ’79 PhD, Chemistry and Jacqueline Eshaghpour endowed a graduate fellowship fund to benefit students from China studying the physical or biological sciences. In addition to providing critical support for graduate students and their transformative research, this fellowship honors the legacies of Professors Jui H. Wang and Donald Crothers. Read more >>

Yale study gives grandmother gecko a place of honor — and a new name

Yale paleontologist Dalton Meyer ’24 GRD, Earth and Planetary Sciences has discovered a new lizard species, an ancestor of modern geckos he named Helioscopos dickersonae in honor of his grandmother, Helen Dickerson, and Mary Cynthia Dickerson, the first curator of herpetology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
