L@s GANAS End of The Year Celebration

Join L@s GANAS for our end of the year celebration at WISE OWL! We'll be celebrating all of the achievements we've accomplished throughout the year and wishing the best for our graduating seniors.

L@S GANAS Research Fellowship

L@s GANAS is still taking applications for our Research Fellowship! This is a Two Year fellowship that provides students with valuable hands-on research experience and an opportunity to expand their network in the academic research community. Eligible students can also be offered up to $5,000 and funding to present at local and national conferences. 

If you are a Latinx student or are Pell Grant eligible, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the scientific field and what it takes to follow a research based career path.

Mentoring Con Ganas

Applications for Mentors are still open! Mentoring Con Ganas offers upper class students an opportunity to help incoming first year and transfer students. Mentors can offer insight into classes, professors, campus events, and provide a support system for new incoming students. This is also a great leadership opportunity for Pre-Health students. 

If you are a STEM student with a minimum of 2.5 GPA, identify as Latinx, will be a UIC student for the entire 2019-2020 academic year, and the 2019-2010 academic year is at least your second year at UIC, then you can apply!

L@s GANAS Lunch and Learn: Post-UIC Fellowships

Join L@s GANAS and the Office of External Fellowships to learn about opportunities that will support you post-graduation in exploring the world and your research interests. These are perfect for students who are looking for an international experience before graduate or professional school.

Exciting news is that UIC students are now eligible for the Churchill Scholarship, which provides full funding to American students for one year of Master’s study in a STEM field at the University of Cambridge. Lunch will be provided, so make sure to RSVP!

Summer Internship at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL)

The deadline for this program is approaching! This program is looking specifically for UIC students and traditional underrepresented students to participate in a summer internship program at the Argonne National Laboratory. This is a paid summer internship that will help students in their exploration of STEM research careers, provide access to cutting-edge research facilities, and foster relationships with world-class scientists and engineers.

Zona Abierta: Drawing on Anger
Join the Latino Cultural Center (LCC) as they celebrate Drawing on Anger: Portraits of U.S. Hypocrisy, a collection of Eric J. García’s most unabashed political cartoons about U.S. history and politics from 2004 to the present.

For over a decade artist Eric J. Garcia has inked visuals with the sharpest of political critiques made through a Chicano lens. Known for blending history and culture with contemporary politics, Garcia creates art that reaches beyond aesthetics.

Swan Scholarship

The Swan Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship offered by Gamma Phi Omega, International Sorority, Inc. It is a one time use award given to a Latina student. It is meant to cover tuition and fees and we welcome all women on campus to apply regardless of residential status. The scholarship is for students enrolled or potentially enrolling for the upcoming 2019-2010 school year at UIC.
