It was great to see the posts that you shared with us for #IloveDC4H. What a great week to Celebrate 4-H! Now we shift back to enrollment. I would encourage you all to work on getting your new enrollments in for the 2023-24 4-H year.
We have gotten a few questions about Member Experiences and other 4-H learning experiences. We thought this would be a great time to put out a reminder or share information that may be new to families.
Ellen works with the 4-H member experiences (AKA trips), she shared the following information. After the registration closes, the state sends us the completed roster. We will then send out an email explaining the procedure going forward. There is a scholarship opportunity from the Leaders Association for half the cost. Payment of half the trip cost will be due along with the application for the scholarship. Scholarships are given based on the results of in-person interviews. We will be putting this information in the Focus when those happen.
In addition, the Leaders Association provides support for the Art Camp, Fall Forum, etc. Typically, what happens is that you would attend the camp and fill out the reimbursement form after the event. The reimbursement form is located online at https://dodge.extension.wisc.edu/4-h-youth-development/4-h-leaders-association/ They typically help cover the cost of registration and lodging. Please keep those receipts to submit.

Poultry Project Fundraiser & Points
All Hands Needed!
For decades the greatest supporter of the Dodge County Poultry Project has been the Beaver Pigeon and Bantam Club. The BPBC Poultry Show and Swap is on October 14th in Jefferson at the Jefferson County Fair Park. We help with the setup, tear down, and clean up. The money we earn from working this weekend allows us to buy the pizza and soda at the fair. Everyone enjoys the pizza, this is the time we work for it!
Please, mark your calendar for the following times. October 12th starting at 4:00 pm at the dairy barn to set up cages, put in shavings, and attach coop cards. The BPBC provides pizza and soda for supper. October 14th after the show (usually around 3-4 pm) we tear down cages and clean up.
There is a lot of work to do but it goes very well when everyone works together. These times are also excellent opportunities to earn points for your activity sheet to make the sale. Many have learned to get their points this weekend, so they don't have to worry about them the rest of the year. Please, plan to attend and make it a success. Any questions contact Dan Schwandt at 920-763-8030 or schwandtdutch@aol.com

Want to help out with 4-H? Volunteer!
If you are 18 years or older and interested in becoming a 4-H volunteer, we can help. We will provide new volunteers with Volunteers in Preparation Training about how to work effectively with youth and what resources are available to volunteers. We will also ask you to participate in a Mandated Reporter Training to learn more about how to protect youth from child abuse and neglect. Finally, to ensure the safety of all youth and volunteers, a Volunteer Behavior Expectations Agreement and background check are required.
Depending on their role, some volunteers may be asked to complete subject matter-specific training as well as training to enrich their knowledge of youth development (for example chaperones or Shooting Sports leaders).
All volunteers, both new and returning, are also required to take training on how to report sexual misconduct. Answers to questions about reporting and training are available on our FAQ page.
