Hands on Peru
Hands on Peru is a 501c3 nonprofit for applied learning and international travel. Hands on Peru has made it a priority to improve access to basic health services and health education in Trujillo, Peru. In 2016 Hands on Peru built Peru’s first center for public health: Cesapu: Centro de Salud Pública.
HOP offers international volunteering options for students in healthcare professions, including dental, medical, nursing, physical therapy, ultrasound, primary care, nutrition, and more. Since 2013 we’ve worked with over 400 volunteers from universities like Yale, Purdue, NC State, UNC, Basel University (Switzerland) and more.
Low income countries like Peru with high poverty rates tend to struggle in providing public healthcare services to their citizens, chronic diseases are ignored because citizens have no access to public healthcare. With this HOP has made it a goal to expand access to primary & preventive health services, to foster healthy habits through interactive community programs, and to train the next generation of public health professionals through volunteer programs. We have reached almost 300 patients with the goal to reach more people. We work to strengthen healthcare at the primary level, changing people's perception of healthcare.
We have two summer sessions available: June 1 - June 30 , 2025 and July 9 - August 6, 2025. Within these summer sessions we offer a 6-7 day adventure in the Sacred valley.
More information about our clinic and our volunteer programs can be found on our website www.handsonperu.org
