Clinical Research Coordinator
University of Maryland, Baltimore | Baltimore, MD
Dr. Sarah B. Sunshine, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and Member of the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, is looking for a full-time clinical research coordinator. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience working with patients and conducting clinical and translational research. You will have the opportunity to work with a great team on both the clinical research projects as well as the laboratory projects (we have animal models and ongoing bench work to study the disease pathophysiology).
Our research is focused on identifying specific biomarkers and novel treatments for ocular graft vs host disease (oGVHD). oGVHD is a severe inflammatory dry eye disease that affects patients after they have undergone a life-saving bone marrow transplant, unfortunately, their new immune system attacks their own body leading to devastating and life-long outcomes for our patients.
The research coordinator position involves patient recruitment, interfacing with the IRB, carrying out study procedures, and coordinating patient visits and patient requests. The ideal applicant is a self- motivated, highly organized and detail oriented individual with experience with teamwork, research and/or patient interaction. Our research is at the intersection of ophthalmology, immunology and cancer so having an interest or background in any of these areas would be of benefit.
All interested applicants are invited to submit their CV and college transcript to ssunshine@som.umaryland.edu with the subject ‘Sunshine Lab 2024 Research Coordinator Application – YOUR NAME’
