EVENTS AND PROGRAMS
If you are planning on going through the Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) process for the upcoming application cycle (2018 application year), please be advised of the following time-sensitive updates:
  • Please note that for the 2017-18 (2018 application year) HPAC cycle, students should NOT be using Interfolio. This is due to account changes that prevent the HPAC Committee from being able to access student documents. Instead applicants must use a new dossier service called PrivateFolio. A GW-specific PrivateFolio link and account set up instructions can be found on our website here.

  • Students are required to meet with a Health Professions Advisor during the academic year at least once by December 22, 2017. Appointments do fill up, so do not wait until the last minute! This is a strict requirement.

  • BCPM GPA minimum is now a 3.0. Fall 2017 grades will be included. There will be no exceptions to this minimum.

  • We will be holding a second HPAC Info Session on November 7th at 11am. You can register here.

The 2018 application and instructions are now live on their website.

Starting in Fall 2017, SPH is offering a new undergraduate degree. The BS in Nutrition Sciences gives students an in-depth understanding of human health and the nutrition that propels it. This is a particularly great fit for pre-health students, with most of those prerequisite sciences built-in.
If students have questions, they can email Dr. Meni (program director) at asylvets@email.gwu.edu.
Atlantis Project is excited to announce a re-branding of our programs! We are now Atlantis. Our team is still based in Washington, D.C. and we remain dedicated to running the highest-quality summer abroad educational program for pre-medical students in the United States. Please review our website for new shadowing, research, MCAT, and service learning programs.

GW Knowledge in Action Career Internship Fund
Spring 2018 Applications Accepted November 1 - 15, 2017
Students who will be interning in unpaid internships in the spring of 2018 are encouraged to apply to the Knowledge in Action Career Internship Fund (KACIF) program.
KACIF supports GW students in pursuing high-quality, necessarily unpaid internships that foster their career exploration and enhance their academic program, while reducing the financial challenges associated with necessarily-unpaid internships. Facilitated by the university's Career Services Council and funded through the generous support of alumni, parents and members of the Board of Trustees, KACIF provides grants ranging up to $3,000 to GW undergraduate and graduate students pursuing internships that are necessarily unpaid.
Applications accepted November 1 through November 15, 2017. Interested students can go to the KACIF website to review more information, including eligibility requirements and application instructions.

They are currently seeking a dynamic group of applicants for the upcoming group of peer educators to begin in spring 2018. Youth Mental Health First Aid
Many of us and our peers struggle with mental health issues in college. According to the CDC, suicide is the second leading cause of death in youth ages 10-24, and 75 percent of all lifetime cases of mental illness expose themselves before age 24. How can you help? Become certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid through GW's student-founded nonprofit, Let’s Empower, Advocate, and Do, Inc. (LEAD).
The next course will be on Sunday, November 5th from 8am-5pm in District B117. While the course is valued at $170, LEAD is offering it to students and faculty for only $100. Scholarships are available if financial assistance is needed. This session is pre-approved to count for eight hours of Professional Enhancement.
Encourage your students to register today!
