Shop, Swap and Connect at Pop up Palooza |
Pop into the first floor atrium at Karl Miller Center (KMC) to shop handmade holiday gifts from students, browse a free/donation-based clothing store and connect with other students. Hosted by two PSU student entrepreneurs, this event is an opportunity to build peer connections and explore some of the awesome resources PSU has to offer!

Kick off the season with festive fun at Portland’s Living Room, Pioneer Courthouse Square (aka “The Square)! Meet Santa, enjoy carolers and tuba music, and watch ‘snow’ fall while sipping free hot cocoa. There’s something for everyone to help you get into the holiday spirit.

Launch your business idea in 10 weeks |
The PSU Center for Entrepreneurship is hosting Everyday Entrepreneur, a 10-week Program & Pitch Competition. The program gives PSU students the tools and inspiration they need to start a business. Participants gain access to experiential learning in the lean startup process, focusing on business model development, implementation strategy and the art of the pitch. Student teams receive workshops, an industry mentor and advising sessions to promote concept success — for free! Apply by Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Build real solutions to climate and social challenges |
Tackle climate change or social issues at the Cleantech Challenge! With the PSU Center for Entrepreneurship, you can receive mentorship and a $1,000 development grant to bring your prototype to life. After a 10-week program, compete for $3,000 in cash prizes. Student teams are provided with five workshops, an industry mentor and advising sessions to promote the success of their concept — for free! Apply by Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Are you looking for mentored research development and intensive support for graduate school applications? If you are a motivated and talented Junior or Senior with aspirations to get research experience, sign up for the Ronald E. McNair Scholars program. The program is especially dedicated to supporting first-generation and low-income students. Apply by Friday, Nov. 28 for this life-changing opportunity.

Take a day hike in the Columbia Gorge |
Wrap up the term with an exciting day of hiking at Coyote Wall! This moderate 6.8-mile loop features stunning views of Mt. Hood and the Columbia River Gorge, small waterfalls and basalt outcroppings, plus often drier weather than Portland. It's a fantastic opportunity to de-stress before finals, connect with nature and build community with fellow Vikings. Spaces are limited so sign up by Dec. 3.

PSU students raise awareness about homelessness |
Read blogs from the PSU Cap: Multimedia Production Team, a 400-level University Studies course at PSU, as they shine a light on homelessness in Portland and offer ideas for meaningful action. More resources will be available when their website launches later this term.

President's blog: Honoring Our Tribal Ties |
For native American Heritage Month, PSU President Ann Cudd reflects on the ongoing work to strengthen relationships with Oregon’s tribes, and the continuing support for Native students attending PSU. On her blog, she highlights the legacy of community advocate Rose Hill and new initiatives in language revitalization, including the upcoming Tribal Language Speaker Series at the NASCC.
