FMCA News: RV to Canada
The Mile Marker By FMCA

Dear RVer,
This month we are saluting that northern land of beautiful sights and friendly people.
Autumn is the perfect time to plan a getaway; so, set your sights on a Canadian fall festival. This list from TripSavvy details events happening after Labour Day weekend through November. And, if you’re planning your first trip to Canada, brush up your vocab with this guide to common Canadian slang terms.
Or maybe you ARE a Canadian heading south this time of year (a snowbird, eh?). About this time, snowbirds start flocking to warmer temps. If you're a snowbird or dream of becoming one, check out 13 Retirement Tips for Snowbirds.
Inspiring you to explore new places (north or south!),

How Do I?
Border Crossing
Canada Signs
The United States and Canada share the longest international border in the world and maintain a close relationship. In fact, the two countries have agreements to exchange basic biographical information about land travelers crossing this border, in order to enhance security in both nations without creating unnecessary delays in the process.
The partnership between the countries enables RVers from both sides of the border to visit the adjoining country with relative ease. However, each country has rules that must be followed when entering. These relate to food that can be brought from one country to another, pets being transported, etc.
Border Crossing Resources
The following are resources for U.S. or Canadian citizens planning trips to the neighboring country.

FMCA Adventure
Parks Canada
Did you know Canada has 46 national parks? From mountains and islands to forests, glaciers, and the northern lights – Parks Canada offers an entire spectrum of natural landscapes waiting to be explored.

Canada is the second-largest country by area in the world, and it boasts huge unpopulated regions. In fact, Canadian national parks occupy more than 3% of the entire area of the country! Some of them are so remote that they aren’t intended to be visited by humans.

Much like the U.S. national park system, Canada offers a money-saving option. If you plan to visit more than one or two of these parks in a year, consider purchasing a Discovery Pass, which grants you access to more than 80 locations for an entire year.
As is true in the U.S., some of the popular parks can be crowded during peak times of the year — something to keep in mind when planning your trip.
