2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.  We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

New International Version (NIV)
Who taught you to pray?  I remember my mom praying when I was a kid.  Then at seminary Virtus Gideon prayed with such power and grace.

If someone offered to teach you to pray would you take them up on it?  God’s people learned to pray by singing the Psalms.  We still do.  Jesus prayed and taught us to pray, “Our Father . . .”  I pray it in the morning when I awaken.  It centers me.

Paul’s prayers inform our praying, too.  He prayed constantly for others.  For whom do you pray?  What do you say?  Try this prayer on one of your loved ones today:  pray as Paul did that God will make them worthy of his calling.  Pray that he will bring to fruition ever desire for goodness and every deed prompted by faith.  When we pray this for others God is glorified in them by his grace.

Now let me pray it for you:
Father, I pray for my readers today that you will make all of us worthy of your calling.  By your power take our good desires and make them into reality.  Faith is prompting us to do good things for others today.  Move us beyond good intentions to graceful actions, for your glory alone.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This year our Every Day with Jesus readings will follow The Bible Project Read Scripture Plan.  Copies of this reading plan are available at Tallowood Baptist Church, or download
the app at readscripture.org.  Read through the Bible with us in 2019!
Joyfully,
Duane
