Racing in 50 states: Three sisters approaching the finish line |
They’ve done triathlons, sprint triathlons, marathons, half-marathons, half-Ironmans, trail runs, 10Ks and more. They’ve raced when it’s been way too hot and when it’s been raining too hard. They even got lost once in the Maine woods. And now, the three sisters, all Creighton alumnae in their 70s, are one event away from their goal: to race in all 50 states. Since his freshman year, Jacob Idra, BSBA’22, has been working to improve the lives of South Sudanese youth in Omaha. His nonprofit continues to grow. And he recently finished a nine-month residency in New York City to cultivate his leaderships skills. Here’s why he’s dedicated to doing even more.

Forget your plan and embrace the journey |
Daniel Lawse, BA’02, had started a theology master’s program and might have become a Jesuit. But then he realized he’d fallen in love with his future wife. And Andrea Comiskey Lawse, BA'02, MA'04, was on track for a PhD when a burglary inspired her to start a tea business. They both credit the lessons learned at Creighton for preparing them for life’s twists and turns.
