As we wrap up our spring semester, whether you were a student, instructor, presenter, donor, or guest, we're thankful you made ILR a priority by joining us and so many of your friends and colleagues this semester.

We offer sincere thanks to Berkeley Square for their generous support as a spring semester sponsor, as well as Nan Fischer and JoEllen Puls, daughters of Mary Kay Fischer, for their generous sponsorship of our ILR Annual Meeting and Ice Cream Social to be held this Friday, 2pm, in The Knolls of Oxford auditorium.

Wrap-up reminders
While the majority of classes wrapped up last week, a handful of others were scheduled to run long or have since been extended an extra week or more. Please support your instructors' efforts by showing up and finishing strong.

Thank your instructors
Your instructors and coordinators are volunteers. Their dedication to ILR and commitment to you and your classmates is evident in the amount of time they invest in the preparation and delivery of their courses. Their email addresses can be found on your student schedule. Please take a moment to thank them. Want to hear more from your instructors? Please encourage them to teach again.

End-of-semester survey
In the coming days, all spring students will be receiving an end-of-semester survey via email. Please let us hear from you so we can continue to bring you the classes, tours, events, and experiences you value.

Last call for proposals
We're actively planning the curriculum for our fall 2023 semester, October 2 through November 3.

Whether the passion for your subject matter stems from your career, hobby, or life experiences, you'll find an audience that's eager, interested, and hopeful you'll consider proposing a course for ILR. To get started, complete our course proposal form, which can always be found on our website under the "Teach" header.

Have you taught an ILR class in the past? Consider offering it again at a new location or in a new format (online or in person). Otherwise, we're always looking for new, refreshed, and/or perennial favorites in literature/writing, science/nature/horticulture, technology/photography, art/theater/music, current events/politics, health/nutrition/sports, geography/history, philosophy/religion, or whatever else is your passion or on your mind.

Ideas? Suggestions? Recommendations? Propose a class at the link above or email us at ilr@MiamiOH.edu. The proposal deadline for the fall semester is May 8. Need an extension? Just holler.

A gift for your gift

How well do you know Miami’s history? Have you rubbed the turtles' heads or dared to step on the seal? Do you know who declared Miami as having “the most beautiful campus that ever there was”? Steven Conn, W.E. Smith Professor of History, worked with several students to uncover Miami’s lesser-known past. They share their findings in the newly published book The History of Miami University in Forty Objects
In honor of ILR's instructor and friend Andrew Cayton (pictured), the History Department is pleased to offer the book as a gift to members of ILR for their donation to the Andrew Cayton Memorial Fund. Learn more.
