Welcome Sherry!

Please welcome Sherry, a recent addition to the Fond du Lac Extension Team.  Sherry started her administrative secretary role on March 21. Below is a little bit more about Sherry. Please be sure to welcome her the next time you are in the office!
I was born and raised just outside the small town of Theresa, WI, in Dodge County. In 1995, I moved to Madison, WI, where I lived and worked for 19 years. In 2015, I moved closer to “home” to Fond du Lac, where I currently live with my husband, Kirk, and two step-children, Chase (age 24) and Cassie (age 16). We just added a furry little four-legged Golden Retriever named Kash to our family this week. We are an outdoorsy type of family who enjoys sports, camping, fishing, kayaking, and four-wheeling. My passions include nutrition and fitness. I have worked in administrative assistant positions in the field of education for nearly 25 years. I enjoy working “behind the scenes” and being an integral part of a team. I am looking forward to learning and working with the UW Extension staff in carrying out our mission of connecting and supporting our community.

LEGO Club - April Meeting Date Change

LEGO Club will be meeting on Wednesday, April 20th.  Please RSVP by Monday, April 18th to Tracy at tracy.keifenheim@wisc.edu, so we have a headcount for the meeting.
Each meeting will have a building challenge. This is a project that the youth work on at home during the month with whatever LEGO blocks they have. The build challenge that will be presented at the April meeting is making a LEGO Train. Please email a picture of your child's LEGO Challenge creation to Tracy as the youth will have the opportunity to share this at the monthly meeting.

Family Learning Day

The Family Learning Day Committee is looking to gather some more information to help plan the 2023 event. Planning for the 2023 Family Learning Day has already started. There were some changes implemented this year, and we are looking for some feedback. We HIGHLY encourage people who didn't participate in this year's family learning day to complete the survey. We would like the survey to be completed by Friday, April 1. The survey is only 7 questions and 6 of them are multiple-choice.
Here is the link to the survey or scan the QR code below: https://uwmadison.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_aXI8ILbP4syB8Bo

Lemonade Day 2022 for Fond du Lac County Registering Teams Now!
A Youth Fundraising Project that Teaches How to Run a Business: Save. Spend. Share.

Since 2015, Lemonade Day has been a tradition in Fond du Lac County. Registration is happening NOW! to create your youth team that plans their own business in their community…a lemonade stand that opens on Lemonade Day: May 7, 2022!
Any 4-H youth, 3-6th grade, with an adult, can form a team (youth of other grade levels can join in to help those in 3-6th grade). Your club or even an individual family can create a team. This is a short-term fun project that has teachable moments about real-world skills of starting a business along with the fun of designing a lemonade stand to make money! What a great fund-raising project for your club!
Youth designs their stand picks a location (usually in front of a business that has good visibility), and opens up on May 7th from 11 am -2 pm. Judges then visit the stands to choose awards on their stands. A youth chosen as ‘Entrepreneur’ of the county has an opportunity to win a national award.
Lemonade Day is a no-cost program but registration is required. The lessons can be done in as little as 4 meetings. The UW Extension office has the free lesson books, and can also assist with teaching the lessons. Materials are made possible by the generous donation from Society Insurance, UW-Madison/Division of Extension, and other community organizations in Fond du Lac County.
Register: (and learn more) at https://lemonadeday.org/fond-du-lac-county

The deadline to form a team is April 8, 2022!
