Announcing the Fall 2023 Dean’s List |
Walsh University congratulates the 576 students who made the Fall 2023 Dean’s List. Students enrolled for at least 12 credits who achieve a grade average of 3.5 or higher in any semester are included on the Dean’s List. Part-time students are considered for the Dean’s List in the semester when their class status changes. Among the students who qualified for the Dean’s List are 46 international students and 58 out-of-state students. Students and Faculty Use Cutting-Edge Technology for Water Quality Analysis at Congress Lake |
Students and faculty from Walsh University’s Science and Mathematics department collected and tested water samples from Congress Lake in Hartville, Ohio, using cutting-edge Shimadzu analytical equipment, to identify potential pollutants, explore measures to improve its quality and to safeguard this natural resource for the community’s well-being and environmental sustainability.

All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the Spring 2024 Presidential Thought Leadership Series, a fireside chat featuring two distinguished figures: Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, Apostolic Nuncio and Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations, and Bishop David Bonnar from the Diocese of Youngstown. The free event on April 3 is open to the public and will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Barrette Business and Community Center. This engaging discussion will delve into the pivotal role of the Catholic Church in international diplomacy since the Fourth Century and its profound impact on shaping global affairs. Excitement is building for Solar Eclipse Fest on April 8 from 2 to 4 p.m., on the Quad next to the Toot Global Learning Center. Classes will be cancelled and university offices will close from 2:30–4 p.m. so that employees and students can attend and witness this historic celestial event. This free and unforgettable community celebration offers a unique experience for all ages! T-shirts are on sale now. Those interested in purchasing a Solar Eclipse T-shirt for $12 may stop by the Math and Science Department or see Dr. Neil Walsh.

Walsh Cavs Secure NCAA Berth |
Congratulations to the Walsh University men's basketball team on their thrilling victory over Thomas More, securing their fourth G-MAC title and NCAA berth since 2019! The Cavaliers displayed resilience and teamwork, with standout performances from Garrison Keeslar, Zack Oddo, and Aiden Satterfield. Next up, the Cavs head to Indianapolis, earning the #3 seed in the Midwest Regional bracket and facing off against the #6 seed Lake Superior State in the Quarterfinal on March 16 at 12 p.m. The University of Indianapolis earned the #1 seed in the region and will host throughout this coming weekend. With their determination and talent, Walsh University is poised to make a strong showing on the national stage!

Alana Thompson Appointed Director of Financial Aid |

|
Alana Thompson has been appointed the Director of Financial Aid, effective immediately. In this role, she will oversee the Financial Aid Office, managing the compliance and awarding of federal, state, and institutional financial aid to students within the Finance department. Thompson brings over 12 years of experience to Walsh University. Having served in various financial aid roles at Kent State University, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to ensuring students have access to the financial resources they need to pursue their education. Honors Thesis Presentations |
Our Senior Honors Students have been working hard on their theses and are excited to share their work with the campus community. If you are available, please come support them on March 14, 16, 18, 20 and 25. The presentations will take place in Timken Natural Sciences Center (TNSC) Room 108. Walsh University Visit Day for Notre Dame College Students

Notre Dame College students and faculty are trying to figure out what is next after news broke last week that the Catholic college will be closing its doors after more than 100 years. Let's come together as a community to welcome our visiting friends with open arms this Friday, March 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wearing our Walsh gear not only shows our support but also symbolizes the strength and resilience of our campus. Let's make them feel at home during this transitional period, reminding them that brighter days lie ahead.

Southern Soirée: Featured Auction Item |
The Southern Soirée has become Walsh University's signature fundraiser, bringing in over $200,000 since its inception two years ago. Our goal is $250,000 this year! The evening will be filled with music, great food, raffles, games of chance, amazing auction items and wonderful conversations. One of our guests is the murderer or maybe it is you! Meanwhile, your party is served a delicious Italian meal.

The International Dinner and Cultural Festival presented by the World Student Organization, on March 23 at 5 p.m., is an unforgettable evening of global flavors, vibrant cultures, and sensational entertainment that highlights the rich heritage and diversity of Walsh's international community of 130 students from 27 countries! Embark on a culinary journey with our buffet-style international cuisine prepared by our talented students from countries including Bolivia, Brazil, Ghana, Japan, Nepal, and the UK. This year, we are turning up the excitement with a special performance by Saakumu Dance Troupe from Ghana and our international students. Tickets include dinner, entertainment, and cost $15 for adults, $5 for students. Campus Ministry and the University Chaplaincy present Living Stations this Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16, at 7 p.m. in the main chapel. The Living Stations will re-enact 14 important moments during the Passion of Christ, with accompanying meditations written and narrated by students. The whole presentation is a significant way we can all meditate on what Christ has done in his passion and cross for us, and it is free and open to everyone in the Walsh community.
