FAQ's for Unified Auditions
What do I need to prepare?
Please prepare one memorized monologue NO LONGER THAN 1 minute and, if you'd like to sing, also prepare a 16- TO 32-BAR song cut. PLEASE HAVE MUSIC PROPERLY PREPARED: Have printed sheet music IN YOUR KEY, in a 3-ring binder, and with your cut(s) and any other instructions clearly marked. NO LOOSE OR STAPLED PAGES, AND NO BOUND MUSIC BOOKS, PLEASE.
When you enter the audition room, if you are singing, you will quickly discuss the specifics of your music and give your tempo to our accompanist.
EVERYONE SHOULD SLATE, and singers should PRESENT YOUR MONOLOGUE THEN YOUR SONG.
You do not need to bring physical copies of your headshots and resumes. When signing up, you'll be asked to upload digital copies of them that will be provided in a dropbox folder for producers.
I'm not singing, may I have additional time for a contrasting monologue?
No. Because we want to be able to see as many actors as possible, we must keep to strict time constraints. We want to see as many people as possible, including people on the waiting list.
Can I participate in both auditions?
You may audition for both locations. However, if you do, for the 2nd audition in Miami, you will be placed later in the day, so that producers who attended the Boca Raton auditions can leave earlier and you don’t need to prepare two separate auditions. If you have a known conflict, you can request to go earlier in the day on March 31.
I would like to participate as a freelance director. How can I do that?
Please contact Andie Arthur at andie@southfloridatheatre.com and she will get you set up. We are not providing a dinner break this year, but we will be providing snacks, so please note any dietary restrictions.
What Theatre Companies are Participating?
RSVPs are still coming in from theatre companies and we will list the producers in future updates.
I want to volunteer for the auditions! What can I do?
Thanks for asking! We need at least five volunteers. We need people to do timekeeping, working the registration table, and to help shepherd actors from the holding area and the theatre. We generally switch people among different roles. Snacks will be provided. If you’re interested in earning Andie’s undying gratitude, please email her at andie@southfloridatheatre.com.
You can sign up to volunteer for one audition or both.
