Wishing Everyone a Blessed Thanksgiving!

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
("Thanksgiving" by Ralph Waldo Emerson)
 Important Announcements:
It is only appropriate that we have much to be thankful for this week:
Auction Thanks: It was a wonderful night celebrating Blue and White! A BIG thank you to all of our auction volunteers, donors and attendees. We are truly grateful for your support!
Food Drive Thanks: Our collection bags were full this week thanks to your generosity. Thank you to all our families who made food contributions to the St. Michael's Church Food Pantry and FeedMore.
Holiday Community Outreach
The Lower School will be participating in an outreach project to help the Children's Hospital of Richmond, The Virginia Home and Ronald McDonald House during the Christmas season. Our students will learn about the wonderful missions of each of these organizations, make Christmas cards in art class for the patients and residents, and collect needed toiletry and personal care items for these organizations.
Needed items include: fuzzy socks (adult), ladies and men’s body wash and lotion, stamps, individual small boxes of cereal, lipbalm (chapstick/adult), gallon ziplock bags and antibacterial wipes. Any quantity is appreciated. Please bring these items to school by December 10th. Click here for more information. Thank you!
Let's Do the Math!
Mrs. Hettrick and Mrs. Baldwin recently attended the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics conference and returned inspired and armed with lots of fresh ideas. They are eager to recommend to our families a nightly math website called "Bedtime Math," which asserts that kids not only need to "read to succeed", but they have to "do the math" as well. The site offers a fun nightly math problem by grade level (via email or via Android/iTunes apps) to energize and engage kids daily about math.  www.bedtimemath.org.
Pizza Friday Sign Up: The opportunity to join in the fun of the Pizza Friday Lunch program for Session 2 is upon us. Attached is the order form. Order forms are due by 11/25.  Families can either order for the remainder of the year, or just "Session 2", which runs 12/5 until spring break.  Thank you for supporting this SMPA fundraiser.
Santa Is Coming! St. Michael's Church cordially invites our families to bring their little ones to meet Santa on Saturday, December 6 from 1-3 p.m. Santa asks that you bring non-perishable foods to donate to the Food Pantry. Please contact the church for more information.
Our Turkeys are Dressed for Thanksgiving!
Our kindergarteners "dressed" their turkeys for Thanksgiving dinner, and we don't mean with stuffing!  They then had to write stories about the fun characters they created. Gobble! Gobble!
Let's Be Friends!
We are receiving lots of wonderful feedback from families on our communications and social media updates. Thank you!
