The Canine Cognition Collaborative is seeking Research Assistants for the Spring 2025 Semester!
Do you ever wonder what goes on in the minds of our furry friends? Do you want relevant research experience in animal care fields? Are you interested in a rapidly evolving field?
Join the Canine Cognition Collaborative at The George Washington University! At the Canine Cognition Collaborative, we aim to investigate the evolution of social learning by studying the cognitive abilities of our canine companions. As a part of our research, we have partnered with the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (https://www.awla.org/) to provide cognitive enrichment to homed and sheltered dogs. The Canine Cognition Collaborative is looking for undergraduate research assistants to join our team and help with our research.
Roles/ Responsibilities:
- Guide dogs through behavioral and cognitive tasks
- Attend weekly lab meetings

Bilingual Volunteer Medical Clinic Healthcare Outreach - Americorps
The Volunteer Medical Clinic is looking for a bilingual (English/Spanish) AmeriCorps Healthcare Outreach Volunteer who is passionate about connecting patients with healthcare services, has good communication skills, and can work independently and as part of a team. The volunteer will assist with the provision of direct care to patients by taking patient medical histories and filling in as an interpreter as needed. The volunteer will also lead our continuity of care initiatives, reaching out to patients with chronic care needs and scheduling them for appointments. The volunteer will have the opportunity to network with area medical schools, volunteer clinicians, and participate in Catholic Charities staff enrichment. By doing direct service, they will be in the unique position to serve patients in a culturally sensitive way and gain clinical skills by working side by side with our clinicians. The position will provide a living stipend of $17,600, as well as healthcare and childcare benefits as applicable. The volunteer is expected to work 1700 flex hours generally from 8am-6:30pm Monday-Thursday, with occasional weekend or evenings for health fairs and training and is permitted to work a different job or study outside of work hours. This position is in Washington, DC.
This is an excellent position as a gap year for pre-medical students as it provides the opportunity for extensive clinical interaction with a variety of patients in a community clinic. In this position, your students would have the opportunity to work with internal and family medicine doctors, as well as cardiology, neurology, rheumatology, and gynecology.
