Marie's Message

Dear 4-H Families,

Please help promote 4-H and all of the wonderful opportunities in the program by participating in 4-H Shirt Days at the Fair (SEE BELOW). Here are a few other reminders:

exhibits must be in place by 7pm on Tuesda
wristbands can be picked up on Tuesday in the Youth Building
Foods Judging begins Monday at 9:30am
Woodworking, Farm Scenes, Cloverbuds, and Flowers & Houseplants are judged on Tuesday (Entry Day).
Read the Junior Fairbook for rules on poster sizes, animal weigh ins/check-ins, etc. You can find all Junior Fair information at https://dodgecountyfairgrounds.com/junior-fair/

Club Happenings

Achievers (Leo Panetti) Dr. Ralph Stowell thanked the club for volunteering at the Waupun Veterinary Clinic’s client luncheon. Mum coupons must be sold by the September meeting or the 10th at the latest.

Herman Hornets (Claire Zuern) – Thank you to every family for donating something to our Silent Auction basket. Please think of any ideas that you may have for Community Service Projects and Activities for next year –and share them with one of the officers. Roadside Clean-up is scheduled for September.

Hats Off...

...to Kris, Ken, & Kyler Schaalma (Leipsic), Derek Gensch (Hyland Prairie), and Steve & Anthony Kuenzi for their help on Thursday, Aug. 4th in getting the "heavy stuff" moved in the Youth Building.

Annual Club & Group Financial Reports Due
September 1st

Each 4-H club and 4-H group is required to complete submit their annual financial report by the
September 1st. Please submit to the Dodge County Extension Office.

Wisconsin 4-H Clubs & Groups Annual Financial Report (Fillable PDF);
Wisconsin 4-H Clubs & Groups Audit Checklist
A copy of the checkbook and/or savings registry covering July 1 – June 3
A copy of the bank statement ending June 30 or July 1 for each account. Any differences
between the bank statement(s) and the ending balance reported must be reconciled and
the reconciliation must be uploaded with the Annual Financial Report.
A current inventory of land, buildings, property, or project equipment with individual values
of $1,000 or greater.
Monthly Treasurer’s Reports for 4-H Clubs or Groups with annual income greater or equal
to $20,000.

This process allows the 4-H Club or Group to qualify for federal tax-exempt status under
the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents General Exemption Number (GEN) for
Wisconsin 4-H Clubs and Groups. Failure to submit a completed Wisconsin 4-H Clubs & Groups Annual Financial Repor and supporting documents by the due date could result in loss of tax-exempt status an forfeiture of all financial assets.

The Fair Board is offering a private Facebook page for Junior Fair families so the Fair can answer questions. Leaders and parents are welcome (kids with parent's permission). JOIN HERE

Youth Building Supervisors Needed

Youth Building Supervisors are needed during the Fair! We need 8-10 people per shift. Duties include tidying up exhibit areas and keeping walkways safe and clean, greeting visitors, etc. This is OPEN TO FAMILIES. The Youth Building closes every evening at 9:00pm.

Need An Education Point?

If you are needing a county project activity educational (orange card point), MAS Sheep Representative Jan Phillips, will be available with Learning Labs at the Youth Livestock office on Sunday, August 14th at 10 AM at the Dodge County Fairgrounds

Sheep Pen Setup

Sheep Exhibitors - Sheep pen set-up is scheduled for Sunday, August 14th at 11 AM at the Fairgrounds.

Herdsmanship Award News

The MAS Committee voted this past week to continue small and large Beef herdsmanship groups that will be based on number of exhibitors.

We will also be removing the overall educational display awards due to no sponsorship. Please remember that there are points in herdsmanship judging that applies to educational displays.

Beef & Sheep Fitting Contests

Nominations Open for 4-H Executive Board &
4-H Endowment Committee

Encourage club volunteers and youth members to serve on these leadership Boards! The 4-H
Executive Board members can only serve for two terms at a time, with a total of four years.
There are four vacant spots for the board next year and four vacant spots for the youth next
year. This rule is put in place so that the same people are not serving the board and new
opinions are being put out there. The youth have to be in 7th grade or higher in order to be
nominated.
