Every Penguin in the World with Charles Bergman

January 14, 2021 | 7 PM | Virtual via Zoom

Both a love letter and a call to action, Every Penguin in the World tracks author-photographer Charles Bergman's forays around the southern hemisphere--from the Galapagos to South Africa to the Antarctic--in his quest to see all 18 species of penguins in the world.

We're excited to announce our 2021 Young Professionals Advisory Council! This fantastic group of young professionals will dedicate their time and talents to support bird conservation.
From piloting our Bird-Friendly Yard certification program to coordinating Houston Bird Week and more, we're looking forward to many great accomplishments this year.

AROUND OUR SANCTUARIES

Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary

Bayou Buddies is held every Wednesday, and there are still spots available this spring! Kids ages 3 - 6 explore their love of nature on a wild journey through the alphabet, learning about a different animal from A - Z each week. Register »
The Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary is open daily from 7 AM to 7 PM. The parking lot and restroom remain closed, but there is access through the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church parking lot. Visitor Information »

Raptor and Education Center

Get an inside look with a behind-the-scenes tour and learn about our native raptors, raptor conservation, and get up close and personal with our education birds.
Upcoming tours: January 23
Volunteer at a Raptor Center Work Party on the second Saturday of each month from September - May. Activities include trail maintenance, filling bird feeders and baths, litter pick-up, native gardening, and invasive species removal.

The Raptor and Education Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM - 4 PM, by appointment only. 

High Island and Bolivar Flats

High Island 2021 patches are here! The wonderful patch artwork, featuring an Orange-crowned Warbler is done by Linda Feltner, an award-winning nature artist and educator. 
Volunteer at a High Island Work Party on the second Saturday of each month from October - March. Meet us at this internationally known birding hot spot and help us beautify one of our four nature sanctuaries here, improving both the visitor infrastructure and wildlife habitat.

CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNTS

Houston Audubon is proud to continue a 121-year-old tradition of Christmas Bird Counts – the nation's longest-running community science bird project. The Upper Texas Coast has 25 counts, and we kicked off the CBC season with the Central Houston bird count in December. Read our latest blog post for highlights and photos.

All members are welcome to join us on a birdy excursion to the Katy Praire on January 16.
Members 50 and older are invited to join our bus trip to Brazos Bend State Park on January 28. Registration opens soon.
