Dean's Reflections
Across 7+ months of Covid quarantine, we have heard the phrase “unprecedented times” over and over again. It is certainly true that none of us have lived through anything quite like what we have experienced since APU campuses closed on March 20 (Murrieta closed on March 13).
This time of isolation from campuses, classrooms, offices, restaurants, churches, and other favorite places has been exacerbated for many by loneliness; a deeply divided nation and uncivil discourse; alarming race-based incidents; escalated levels of anxiety and depression; financial uncertainty; and, most importantly, alarming death tolls.
To better understand our present time, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about other times when God’s people faced events unprecedented for their generation, hoping to learn from them. These are just a few eras that I’ve taken time to read or re-read about...
