Exodus 14:21-22
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.
New International Version (NIV)
Have you ever been “caught between a rock and a hard place”?  I remember that expression from my childhood.  What do you do when there is no obvious way out?

The Israelites  had no way to turn and nowhere to go when they found themselves caught between the impassable Red Sea and the seemingly invincible army of Pharaoh.  Thankfully they were serving the actually invincible God.  So they cried out to Moses.  Moses cried out to God.  God made a way.

How do you like the strategy?  Moses, stretch out your hand over the water and it will part for you.  This must have seemed improbable at best, impossible at worst.  Moses trusted and obeyed.  God made a way.  What is your impossible situation today?  Trust God and obey him.  Watch him make a way.

On the other side, Moses and his sister Miriam gave thanks to God in song.  My high school choir used to sing, “When I think I’m going under part the waters Lord.  When I feel the waves around me calm the sea.  When I cry for help, oh hear me Lord and hold out your hand.  Touch my life.  Still the raging storm in me.”  It comes back to me when I find myself over my head.  Every time, God has made a way.    Trust him.  Obey him.  Watch God make a way!

Pray with me:
Father, thank you for always making a way for us to do your will.  Most of all, thank you for finding a way to save us in our impossible dilemma of sin.  Thank you for sending your Son to save us.  We will be eternally grateful.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This year our Every Day with Jesus readings will follow The Bible Project Read Scripture Plan.  Copies of this reading plan are available at Tallowood Baptist Church, or download
